There Has Got to be a Better Way

"There has got to be a better way." This refrain begins in my head when I wake up in the morning and have to get ready to go to my two jobs. And some days I am simply too tired to have anything at all running through my head.
Get up at 6:15am. Get ready for work.
Catch the bus at 7:30am-or whenever it feels like showing up, afterall, this is the CTA I am relying on.
Get to work at approximately 8:30am.
Work until just before 1:00pm.
Walk briskly three blocks to other job. Clock in.
Work until 9:00pm.
Get home around 9:45pm (again, this time is subject to the whims of the CTA).
Get myself organized for the next morning. Shower.
Go to bed a little before 12:00 Midnight (if I am lucky).
Repeat Monday through Friday. "Oh my God!"

In a world where it seems like you can never do enough to get ahead, I have decided to put on the brakes and take a deep breath. I am tired of doing what other people expect me to do. I am going to do what I want to do.

Step 1: Quit my second job.
I got a second job (the one in the morning) because I was trying to save some money so I could quit my first job. If you are more than a little confused, just imagine living my life for a day or two. Well, my second job at a non-profit has turned into a dead-end. Well, it was always a dead-end, now that I really think about it. I do not need to be here at all. I do maybe one hour of work per 15 hour week, and I am not learning anything. I generally spend my time on the internet. And though the pay is great, it is hard to keep justifying my continual stress and exhaustion over a job that I do not need in the first place. The only thing that I am learning is that people should be careful what non-profits they give money to, because you would be shocked to learn how much is being wasted and is not going to help the cause they are supposedly fighting for at all.
